Henrietta & Billy-Bob

These are my brother's, mother-in-law's...Lena's moo moos. Did everyone get that?! lol...She and her husband raised cows when they lived in Alabama and these are just a couple of her babies. Henrietta is the cow giving Lena a kiss. Lena says, she would just have to ask for a kiss and Henrietta would lick ya! Billy Bob is the other baby w/the big ears. Isn't he adorable! ~Kat for Lena W.

Those two are totally cute! Yeah, GS, I was wondering the same thing. Are they pets? Are they for milk? If not, please just lie to me. They're so sweet! By the way, Henrietta and Billy Bob, I'd like you both to know that I LOVE milk, but my daughters and I do not...you know...(but chickens are another story altogether).

Cute bovine-ness! Cover those cute big ears... I, errr, do and I hope they aren't destined for the grocery store.

Sigh. Just don't look.

Once, when I lived in San Diego, my boyfriend-at-the-time's mom heard about this place where you could pick out a chicken and they would, well, butcher it for you. We went out there, walked around, and she selected a chicken from the ones scratching around on the ground. Then we left.

A few days later her chicken was ready. That night, she fixed dinner with it. It did taste slightly different though I wouldn't say oodles better; fresher maybe. But I just struggled over the fact that I had just seen this chicken alive only days earlier. I felt awful.

I confess, though, not enough to make me a vegetarian. Just enough to make me stick to the anonymity of the grocery store packages.

Yes everyone, they were milk cows and pets!! She treated them and spoiled them like you would a dog. One time, she was telling me, she heard a coyote in the middle of the night, and they had a few calves. So, she got on her 4-wheeler in the wee hours of the morning in her night gown and road out thru the field to make sure everyone was okay! Lena is a definite animal lover like us all!

Oh, Karen! I wish I had your will power! I just can't NOT eat beef/pork. I do draw the line at veal/lamb though. Those I won't eat...

Glad to hear they were milk cows!

Bryan's ex-girlfriend was in school for that kind of stuff, and as an "exam" of that type, they had each student raise an animal of their choice. She chose a steer, and she loved it and took care of it. Unbeknownst to her, when it was "of age", they gave her her grade, slaughtered it, and had a feast with everyones' animals. They told them later... everyone got sick to their stomachs that they had eaten the animals they cared for. It was supposed to teach them a lesson. She must be stronger than me, 'cause I would have dropped out after that....

I do still eat chicken, but only if it's boneless and, therefore, not resembling a chicken. All the other animals are safe from me though. I also don't eat fish or anything with a shell, but that's because I don't like them. I'd like to thank these, and all cows, for milk - I love milk! I'm sure no one is interested in my eating habits, but it's getting close to time for me to go home and I feel like babbling. Plus, I'm not coming in to work OT tomorrow - YAY! I'm going to volunteer at the local shelter and then post an FFCA blog (I know...it's about time).

I am very happy and relieved to hear that Henrietta and Billy Bob are safe, milk-producing pets.

Uh, guys? Billy Bob is not going to be producing any milk any time soon. Only girl cows do that. Trust me, I'm from Wisconsin.

What cute moo moo's. The one in the second pic has interesting coloring. The eye looks like a bulls eye. Good thing Henrietta is for milk. I'm not a farm girl but I agree with Valinda only girl cows produce milk. Billy Bob is good for big ears. LOL

Billy Bob reminds me of the calf in City Slickers. What was his name? Oh! It's on the tip of my tongue!

OK, I knew that only female cows produce milk. I just had a "brain-fart" when I typed that one. Hee hee.

City Slickers cow: Norman. It was on the tip of my tongue too, but I had to Google it to finally remember.

Norman! Thanks Donna! I still hadn't remembered it and didn't think to google it!

These two cows are adorable! Both of my daughters are vegetarians. Tatum came out of the womb that way -- must have been all the apples I ate while pregnant -- Sloane became one about two years ago -- scary biology class. My husband and I don't eat red meat. But, whispering....chicken & fish...well...we have been known to consume that.
