*Granted, these aren't personal pets, but I think everyone agrees that when you have ducks/geese at a lake, they're kinda like community pets. That's why I've posted them. Those are Kim's kids feeding them over there!!! ~GS*

I wanted to post before Blogger didn't allow me to! ;p

I love ducks, especially Mallards. Geese can be a little harrowing at times-I've met many an agressive goose. But they're fun, too.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Kim!

I love geese. I think they are so beautiful. Though, like GS said, I too have met many agressive geese. Usually protecting their nests. We have a place here in VA called Mount Trashmore. And yes, you guessed it, it's made of trash! Of course tarped and covered in green grass! There are two lakes there and actually two hills or mounts(lol). They also have picnic tables, of course, playgrounds, a skate park and a paved bike/walking path around the whole park. Pretty cool. Anyway, so we have lots of geese and two kinds of ducks. Oh and occasionally a crane or egret...muskrats. Okay! Lots of little critters! Hi Kim's kiddies!

Hi all,

These are great pictures. Plenty of ducks and geese 3 miles from our house at Lake Padden. In the fall and winter, though, just watch where you're stepping on the trail. Those goose droppings are everywhere!

When I was younger, we used to go to a reservoir near our house to sail. At this lake were two ducks that you had to watch out for. We saw them chase labrador-sized dogs out of the water and well onto land. Pretty funny really.

Thanks for sharing the picture.

Hello Everyone! Thanks GS for posting these pictures. That was such a fun day for us, it was Duncan's last day of preschool and this park is by his school. The geese and ducks are so tame, they get fed by the whole town. We live in a small town. Anyway, you can't really tell from the second picture but those are baby ducklings. There are also some young ones walking by the white goose. The kids had such a good time!

Great pictures. We have lots of Canada Geese where I work and I was just watching a family yesterday morning. They were crossing our parking lot and it is so cute to see how protective the parents are with the young ones, one parent in front, the other following just to make sure everyone stays in line. Thanks for sharing these pictures, darling children, too!!!!

I forgot to mention, the ducks and geese all stay together. They act like one big family, something I'd never seen before! They all went into the water together and swam together. When the little ones got out of the water, they ALL got out of the water.

My boy is Duncan and he's 4, and my daughter is Casey and she's 2. They are so cute and get along so well. Thanks for the compliments!

One of my favorite things to do was to feed bread to the ducks at the park. We still have one park with ducks and turtles, but there's a problem with the other park - the problem has been named Reggie. He's an alligator. They don't know how he got in the lake and they haven't been able to catch him. It was in the news for a while - an alligator in Harbor City is really strange. Then it kind of became a joke because they kept trying to catch him and couldn't. We still have yellow tape around the lake.

Didn't get a chance to post here this morning as I had to leave and take my new neighbor to town and show her around where everything is.

Red Bluff has a park along the Sacramento River and they have ducks and geese there. It's a nice place to relax. Was walking there one day and a goose decided he was going to chase me. So I told it, if you don't like me around here I will leave. He or she thought that was a good answer, so we parted.

Danielle, your quackers!!

What cute kids you have Kim. They look like you can sqeeze them like cute kittens.
