Grace

This beautiful girl still needs a "forever home". Can someone find it in their heart to take her? She's a loving lap-kitty. I don't doubt that the babies will find homes, but Grace needs a home too. Everyone should pass on the link to her post to everyone they know and ask them to pass it on as well. SOMEONE has to want a gorgous girl like Gracie. And yes, two kittens (from yesterday) are still homeless. Please circulate this!!!! Anyone interested can post here, or contact Deb @ her email (yesterdays' post). ~GS

The same one I used to work for!!!!!!!! AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I can't believe him! What a jerk! That was the Orange mom's babies, the black and tortie ones. I TOLD him I would find them homes when they were ready and then spay the mom, but NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO... he's mad at us, so what does he do??? Sentance them to death! God! He is so impossible! I hope he gets his.....

Aaarrrgggghhh! Do you know anyone who could get over there and rescue the babies from the humane society? They do TRY first to find homes for them, before... don't they?

OMG, I would be there in a heartbeat if I could. Reminds me of rescuing Grace & Company. Actually, I have decided that Pete & Foster should be adopted together, since they are so strongly bonded. I won't be moving until late July and I need forever homes for them before that. So, officially, only Brutus & Marigold have forever homes. Still working on the others. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! Get well Amber & Jake, we are praying for you both!

I'm sorry, guys. Their "person rule" about young babies, dog or cat, is that if they aren't able to feed themselves, they immediatly put them down. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. (or a home, at that). Sorry, but that was it for their short lives. They were about 3 weeks old. Poor mama. You can't even ask them about it. They just lie to everyone's faces anyways. When I worked there, I asked to foster some babies they had JUST taken in, and they said no and told me "the rule". The ONLY exception is if they are purebred ($$$$$). If a litter of Aby's or Siamese or Labs or Sheps come in, yeah, they'll ask someone to take 'em home and try. But ferals? They don't look twice. They bring them straight to the vet that's back there. WHY DO YOU THINK I LEFT THAT GOD AWFUL PLACE?????? I went there to help, thought I could make a difference.... all I found was death. The only thing (now) that I have to show for it is Gheeri. I'm so glad we got her out of there before they killed her.

I sure know I could not work at a humane society I would have heart failure probably on the first day. What a damn stupid rule. Darn I'm getting riled right now. I'm with Danielle couldn't the ass let you handle it. They sure weren't hurting anyone. He sounds like the bad james. LOL. Have to put a little humor in here somewhere because I feel like Rosie, it's tough hearing about all the unfairness and sadness. At least all of the fuzz pack have at least saved some of the cuties out there. Unfortunately there are just to many out there to save them all.

Gherri's servant, I'm so sorry that you had to be a witness to that, but you are right. If I hadn't gotten there when I did, Grace & her precious kittens would not be here. I am blessed to have had them! Thank you so much for everything you have done for them and for me. Meows to the Fuzz Packers!

GS, I feel so bad! That man is just awful! Please tell me you don't have to deal with him very often! Those poor babies. To question why though, takes you naturally to the question of why does life have to be this way? I've beat myself up with that question for the last 6 years. Please don't go there, it only brings more pain! You did the best you could and you CARED so much! You never gave up on that family. You WILL be rewarded. You're such a good person GS!!!

I have an orientation to start volunteer work at a local shelter on June 17th. I'm really looking forward to it, but if anything like that is going on, I'm going to raise hell.

Actually kim, I may not have to. He's trying to kick us out, so I don't know. I'll know more on Friday. I guess it was a good thing Squeakers' kits are so afraid of humans (as they should be). See, now I'm getting bitter. Thanks, kim, for the nice words. Oh God, if he lays one hand on Squeaky...... Then again, she stays away from him because he kicks her. Bryan saw him do it twice, and he used to tell us he was going to "throw her in the canal". I swear, his exact words. That's one of the reasons I want to take her along with us, but I have to get her tested 1st. I couldn't live with myself if I tried to save her and woulnd up killing Gheeri in the process with like FIV or something. She looks healthy, but... I dunno. You never know for sure. But first I have to find a place to live..... Anyhow, good night, Fuzz Packers, I'm going home to cry over the awful day, mourn my babies, dream about a healthy, happy, Jake, and cough until I fall asleep. Sorry if this sounds like I want everyone to feel bad for me-that's not it-I just REALLY had a bad day. See you guys tomorrow...

p.s. Karen, they don't always let the "volunteers" see the truth-I don't know how it goes where you are, I just know this shelter...

Gherri's servant, please feel better soon. Get well wishes from Grace & Company, my five forever kitties and especially from me. Get some rest. Tomorrow will be better. You did all you could do. Things will improve.

Blogger Gheeri's Servant said...

P.S.S- Karen, most of the time they make you sign a "confidentiality" clause so that you basically can't like, boycott or raise hell once you know the ropes. I had to, which is why I can't go public around here with it. I could get in big trouble for telling people how things really happen. Because they know that then people would go to the lesser-known no-kill shelters.

I'm too distracted to work today with all this going on. I have an idea I've been considering and I thought I'd mention it quickly and get some feedback. I'd like to start a non-profit, tax deductable charity to help homeless kitties. I have lots of information, plus my best friend has set up a non-profit and is giving me advice. I want to be able to have funds to spay/neuter, provide shots and medical care, and find homes for any homeless kitties that Fuzz Pack members find/rescue. Because we're all scattered across the country (and beyond) there would be no specific rescue "site" at this time. It would be an organization to fund Fuzz Pack efforts to help these kitties in need. Right now I would really appreciate feedback, ideas, input, and any comments you might have. Soon I'll be needing a Mission Statement and a Board of Directors too. Feel free to e-mail me anything you have to say...kch917@sbcglobal.net Thank you!

GS, what the hell kind of shelter is that??? That doesn't make any sense to me? Confidentiality clause or not, I think I would say something (I know that is easier said than done), however I bet if you did animal lovers everywhere would rally around you and support you for it. I just can't believe that bullsh*t, how far of a drive is it from Atlanta to Miami, I think I am going to come down this weekend and beat the sh*t out of your landlord! What a jackass! OMG I am so mad right now I could scream! People (except us fuzz packers) are so f-ing stupid! I am sorry. Gonna go now....

8:04 PM
Blogger Kim said...

Riquel, you go girl! I know I should discourage you from feeling this way but I happen to agree with you on this one!

8:37 PM
Blogger Gheeri's Servant said...

Yeah, riquel, that's why I am so mad..... I think they have been outed before, but somehow they get out of it. The shelter itself is supposed to be sponsored by the richest family in Florida, the Huizenga's. They own, like, half of florida. Anyhow, they are big anthropologists (I'm assuming because it's tax deductible), and supposedly the wife loves animals. But she doesn't know what goes on in there. She only knows what they tell her at board meetings. You should see the nice offices upstairs that are paid for by the people that are donating and adopting.

Anyways, good news in all this bull from yesterday- we're not being immediatly kicked out. Bryan talked to the landlord, so we're staying for a little longer. So maybe I can find homes for the babies after all. Squeaky's babies are either getting used to me or they are really greedy, because they were actually running around under the porch instead of hiding while I fed the family. I just hope the landlord doesn't find the 3 kitten family....

9:52 AM
Blogger danielle said...

GS I'm glad to hear that little bit of good news. Can you catch the family? Maybe some type of safe trap? That's how it is those people use the money for themselves and not for what it is intended for. Its so F****d up. They only care about the size of their wallets.

10:26 AM
Blogger Gheeri's Servant said...

Eventually I think I will have to set traps for the family. Only Squeaky will allow me to pick her up. She's so tiny and cute. I can hardly believe her tiny body carried all those babies. Especially since they're getting so big....

Yeah, it's funny, it's a no-profit organazation, so when they HAVE a profit, instead of getting more medicine for the ones that have colds that they so frequently put them down for, they increase each others' salaries. I think I've said before-how many shelter Directors do you know that drive a Mercedes?

ML's cat Missy is in the hospital. Apparently when she and Grace had their "cat fight", Missy was hurt. I feel horrible about this! ML please call me. Fuzz Family please pray for Missy's recovery! AHHHH -- I don't know what to do --- guilt, guilt!! Grace didn't mean to hurt Missy, she was just in protective mommy mode!

Okay, Debra, is there anyplace you didn't post??? Ha-ha. You all know by now Miss Missy has one stitch in her lower jaw and is doing fine. We do have to keep close watch on her tonight to be sure there are no breathing problems. Gracie is probably the sweetest little angel cat I have ever met. But is a fiercely good momma cat. If the kittens had not been present, it never would have happened like that.

BTW, one thing Deb hasn't mentioned is how rare it is for a female cat to be orange. We were talking this fact about while playing with the kittens. Rose, your Marigold is a treasure in more ways than one. And Momma Gracie is very rare as well. Someone told me back when I researching cats they call a male calico or a female orange a "money cat". Cause it's so rare. Maybe some of the Fuzz Pack cat experts know about this.
Thank you for your prayers, good wishes and cards for Missy. And let's say some thank you prayers to Momma Gracie for making it against all odds (with some help from Deb).

HELLO FUZZ FAMILY! Sorry it has taken me so long to post, but I just got home. Wow, did I have a day! Started with problems with my mom (she has Alzheimers & is in a nursing home)at 6:00 a.m. Took care of that, got back home around 1:30 and gathered up Grace, Pete & Foster, their "things" & my daughters. Went to Spring, TX -- about a 45 minute drive. Met Marilynn Smith, her daughter, grandsons & grand-daughter. The most charming, sweet family I have ever met. Grace LOVES her new mommy -- Marilynn! She is being given the "royal" treatment! As she should! Pete & Foster were "surprises" for the oldest grandson (13 1/2) Austen -- he has had their pics posted on his computer for a while. I was so impressed with Austen & his brother Parker. Very gentle with the kitties! Love the men who love cats! The grand-daughter, Kiera, is 5. Such a beauty! She was having such fun with the kitties! I felt so wonderful leaving them because I knew that they were in their "forever" homes! The only tears I shed were tears of happiness for them. I do miss them, but I KNOW that they are where they belong.

Rose: Marigold & Brutus are doing great! I'll give you a call tomorrow!

ML, I'm so glad that Missy is doing better!

MEOWS, PURRS, AND LOTS OF LOVE FROM THE TAYLOR "CAT" HOUSE TO EVERYONE! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

p.s. I'm sending new pics of the kitties with their new humans!

We had an interesting night with Grace and Pete and Foster -- much better than I had expected! Grace is calling for her babies, but she woke me up only twice during the night; then she returned and went back to sleep. Pete and Foster slept under the bed in "their" room, and if they woke up and played at all, Austen slept right through it all! We both got about 6 hours of sleep -- pretty good for a first night with new babies in the house!

Thanks, again and again, to Deb and her daughters for bringing these little souls to us. And to ML for the "Graceandkittens" blog. And to all others who helped engineer this miracle of our summer.

Marilynn

I think people often overlook the importance of grooming their pets as a way to contribute to their overall good health. Here are just a few more tips on pet grooming. You must groom your pets whole body including the legs, tail, and underbody if you want to do it right.
You must groom certain pets from the skin outward to truly be effective in taking care of their coat of hair and keeping it healthy. Comb through the unseen healthy hair and remove the shedding hair; this is what most groomers do first before cutting your pet's coat. You must groom some animals all at once while some other animals have so much hair that it is esier to do a little at a time each day. You know your pet is well mannerd when it will sit still and alow you or a professional to perform regular grooming and maintenence without any fuss. If you feel you just don't have the time or desire to do it yourself, its time to call the professionals. Your dog will love you for it, and you'll feel great about it too. Hope this was helpful.

You can get more pet grooming tips by visiting my site at http://www.pet-grooming-boarding.info/
